5 things to ponder about your wedding day

Hi All! #WeddingTipsTuesdays is your newsletter of 5 tips, hacks, tricks and helpful tidbits to help your wedding planning. If there’s anything you would like for us to tackle, please let me know. Enjoy this weeks hacks and thoughts!

  • Quote I’m Pondering

“More isn’t better. Better is better.” I honestly don’t know where I read this, but it was recent. It’s got me thinking about the wedding industry. A vendor might offer lots of different services or options. But because they have “more,” does that mean it’s better? Or because they cost “more,” does that mean they are better? The answer: It depends. At the end of the day, I feel that 3rd party reviews will tell the true story. You can usually get a good idea about a service based on user experience. What we tend to see, are the companies that specialize and constantly try to get better at what they currently offer, are going to be your tried and true best bang for the buck. At Cutmaster Music, we have actually scaled back what we are offering in terms of services and packages so that we can offer the best service and value to our couples. We would rather be great at few things than to be mediocre at lots.

  • Why Wedding Time Matters

I can’t count how many couples thought their wedding was going to rage from 4:00 in the afternoon until 2:00 in the morning. THAT’S LONGER THAN A WORKDAY! Seriously though, do you want your day to be memorable and talked about for years to come? Limit your open dancing to 3 hours or less. I’m serious and let me tell you why. Weddings are typically filled with guests that are 30 years or older. They don’t party until midnight and beyond. So, give them an amazing dance floor experience and wear them out after a couple of hours, then send them off on a positive, happy, high note! We love events that end around the 10:30-11:00hour. Most of the guests are still in the room and you actually leave them wanting MORE when it’s all over. This is a good thing and that’s the feeling they will leave with and remember and talk about 10 years after your event.

  • Vendor Directory & Wedding Blog You Should Follow

The Perfect Wedding Guide (New Mexico). We’re big fans of the crew at the PWG. This site is a great resource for trusted vendors in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas. I know they are also expanding to other parts of the state. Check it out and follow their blog for super cool wedding-related content and happenings in the area.

  • What I’m watching again

TLC’s 4 Weddings ALBUQUERQUE! We’re a little biased here, since we were a part of one of the weddings (The Boarders wedding, for those following). You can view it now on demand. The show in general is fun to watch and good for inspiration and a lot of WHAT NOT to do. We had a lot of fun being a part of this wedding and hope you enjoy it as well. Lyndsi and Clint were super fun and it showed in their snowboarding winter wonderland wedding.

  • Something we love seeing, as long as they’re not barking up a tree

Pets in weddings! We love how we’re seeing more and more couples include their pets on their big day. But we don’t think they should be included at all costs. Your pet should be trained and cut out for the job (usually walking down the aisle). Know your pet’s temperament and behavior in this type of high stress and high maintenance situation. Otherwise, your cute idea could turn your ceremony or reception into an unnecessary distraction and disaster.
