Wedding Tips Tuesdays

5 things to ponder about your wedding day

Hi All!

I’m starting a new blog/newsletter that is geared toward new wedding couples as they take on the journey and beast that is Wedding Planning. Every Tuesday I will write 5 things that I think you should know about your wedding day. This might be something I’ve witnessed recently at an event, something I’m pondering in general, maybe a great book I’m reading or a quote from it, or maybe some insight from one of my amazing industry friends. It’s designed to be a “quick-hitter” and easy-read to get the idea factory churning in your mind as you plan for your big day. I hope you enjoy it and if so, would love for you to share it with someone you know that might find it useful.

  • Quote I’m Pondering On Facebook

“If you make a timeline that gives 175 guests 5 minutes to move from one room to another you shouldn’t be making timelines.” – Michael Walter of Elite Entertainment in New Jersey

Many people go into this industry because “That looks easy and fun. I can do that!” The reality is, that if you’ve been in this industry for even a relatively short amount of time, you would know that almost all weddings need flexibility and that strict timelines almost never happen. This is not a knock on planners and coordinators. At the end of the day, for me, a timeline or an agenda is a basic order of events. The only thing that technically HAS TO BE on time is the food. Outside of that, the toasts starting a minute or two ahead or behind “the schedule” is not going to make or break your event. Don’t get caught up in a strict timeline. Enjoy your day and let things “flow” naturally.

  • Vendor I’m following

Talitha Tarro Photography. Talitha has been a friendor of ours for a long time now and I’m still amazed at her work. My wife calls her “The Goddess Of Light.” I’m not sure anyone uses contrast and colors quite the way Talitha does and we consistently refer her for that type of couple. Not to mention we always use Talitha for personal family photos and most recently for our Cutmaster Music photoshoot.

  • Playlist I’m Following

Coffee House. This was a recent cocktail hour playlist submitted by a recent couple. I decided to put it in a spotify list to share with you. Artists range from Ingrid Michaelson to Mumford and Sons to Matt Nathanson and Chris Stapleton. It totally fit the vibe of their rustic-feel wedding.

  • Inspirational Instagram I’m Following

@andreaeppolito I met Andrea at The DJ Collective last year in Tampa. Andrea specializes in luxury weddings in Las Vegas. Visit her instagram and your jaw will drop at some of the recent events she has coordinated. The flower displays at some of these events are unreal. Follow her and you are sure to pick up some super cool color combinations, floral display ideas, and other amazing decor and event inspiration.

  • Something Different We’ve Been Doing At Events Recently

We’ve been experimenting with patterns on the ceiling with our event lighting. This adds another element of depth to the ballroom and in the right situation gives the room an accented design to turn a plain ballroom into something more fun with feeling.
