5 things to ponder about your wedding day

Hi All!

I hope you enjoyed the launch of #WeddingTipsTuesday last week. Every Tuesday I will write 5 things that I think you should know about your wedding day. This might be something I’ve witnessed recently at an event, something I’m pondering in general, maybe a great book I’m reading or a quote from it, or maybe some insight from one of my amazing industry friends. It’s designed to be a “quick-hitter” and easy-read to get the idea factory churning in your mind as you plan for your big day. I hope you enjoy it and if so, would love for you to share it with someone you know that might find it useful and don’t forget to use the hashtag #WeddingTipsTuesday.

  • Local Venue I Can’t Get Enough Of

Los Poblanos InnWe absolutely love working events here. Not only is the venue a gem in the heart of Albuquerque, but the event staff are some of the nicest people to work with. Shealyn, Camille and Chelsea are wonderful people and really have the LP Experience nailed down. Not to mention, the food is always A-MAZING! Even if your event is not at this property, be sure to go visit and eat at the restaurant, Campo, and take in the Los Poblanos experience for yourself.

  • Vendor I’m following

Alicia Lucia Photography. We love working with Alicia and her assistants. The work and reviews speak for themselves. I feel like she’s super versatile with her style and looks, which make her great for many different types of clients. But what I feel might be Alicia’s best attribute next to the skillset on the camera is her personality. This is just someone I think everyone wants to hang out and spend their wedding day with. Check her out and go follow @alicialuciaphotos.

  • Pro Hack For Your Wedding

Have an emergency kit for your wedding day. Get a small box (make it an old First Aid Kit for fun 😉 and put these items in it: Advil, Needle and some extra thread or a small sewing kit, clear nail polish/super glue, bottle of water and snacks, tissue, deodorant, tic-tacs/mints and floss, bobby pins & hair ties, lipstick/chapstick.

  • Pro Hack For Your Cocktail Hour/Dinner

Put your stamp on your event with a personal playlist for cocktail hour and/or dinner. I love giving our couples control over these lists. These times are typically background for your guests to enjoy conversation. If you have an eclectic taste in music or enjoy songs that aren’t mainstream dance tracks that will be played later in the evening, then I say GO FOR IT and play some of this music. We often have couples that make these lists on Spotify and send their playlist link to us. We never stream music, but can either run the list offline or use the list as a starting point if we’re mixing music during those times.

  • Something you should “splurge” on for your wedding day
Everyone has a budget, but how much is peace of mind and a smooth wedding day worth to you? We’re impartial to entertainment, but we highly recommend budgeting for a planner. And I hate to say it, but there’s no such thing as a “DAY OF” planner. You want someone that wants to get to know you and do work (even if it’s not from start to finish) ahead of time in preparation for your big day. A planner will bring amazing ideas to the table and actually find ways TO SAVE YOU MONEY! And they typically have lists of amazing vendors to work with assuring you a worry-free wedding day. Let a planner take care of the busy work and free you to be able to enjoy this wedding experience. And like any other vendor, interview multiple planners to make sure you work with someone that vibes with you and your vision.

Please give me feedback on social @cutmasterchris. Which bullet above is your favorite? What do you want more or less of? Other suggestions? Let me know! Just send a tweet to @cutmasterchris and put #weddingtiptuesday at the end so I can find it.

Have a wonderful week and happy wedding planning!

Chris
