5 things to ponder about your wedding day

Hi All!

This blog/newsletter is geared toward new wedding couples as they take on the journey and beast that is Wedding Planning. Every Tuesday I will write 5 things that I think you should know about your wedding day. This might be something I’ve witnessed recently at an event, something I’m pondering in general, maybe a great book I’m reading or a quote from it, or maybe some insight from one of my amazing industry friends. It’s designed to be a “quick-hitter” and easy-read to get the idea factory churning in your mind as you plan for your big day. I hope you enjoy it and if so, would love for you to share it with someone you know that might find it useful.

  • Thought I’m pondering

Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the beast we call ‘Wedding Planning’. You’ve been dreaming of this time your entire life, right? Getting engaged and planning your dream day. Then you start searching for venues, dresses, invitations, DJs, AHHHHHH! We know how stressful this time can be and your dream can quickly turn into a nightmare you just want to be over as soon as possible. DON’T GET CAUGHT UP IN THE BEAST. Relax and try to enjoy the moments you get to spend with mom, your husband or wife-to-be, your bridesmaids, etc. Hopefully, you only have to do this once and you want to make sure you plan and do it all right. If there’s a piece of advice I can give, it’s to utilize and use your vendors to help you out. They know the tricks and hacks that can make planning easier, fun, and probably save you money. And I’ve said it before… if you have the budget, GET A PLANNER!

  • Vendor I’m following

Simply Sweet by Darci. Simply put, Simply Sweet is Simply Awesome! We work a lot of events and I’m in awe every time I see Darci’s cakes. They are all works of art and I’ve had the pleasure of trying many of them and they are to die for. Not to mention, she won the Food Network’s Cake Wars! I mean, does it get any better? If you are searching for your wedding cake, Darci has to be in the mix.

  • Wedding Trends We’re Seeing Less Of

We’ve been entertaining weddings since 2006. Chocolate fountains, photobooths, and disco balls come and go. So do many traditional wedding formalities. Here’s a list of traditions we’re seeing less of: money dances, bouquet and garter tosses, parent dances (many are combining them into one dance), traditional first dance. We’re not seeing the first dance completely die, but we’re seeing more couple dance part of their first dance, then inviting their guests to join them.

  • Trend we’re seeing and want more of!

Grooms with color. Gone are the days of the penguin tuxedo and hello to the days with pops of color. We’re seeing more color, not only with the Groom, but with wedding parties in general. Sometimes it’s the suit, but we’re also seeing colorful ties, bow ties, and vests. Here’s some ideas if you’re looking for a little color on your wedding party. Love, love love!
